Drafting and Planning: Codes and Conventions Task

From this task I have learnt that simplicity is key. It has helped me distinguish a good magazine compared from a poor one.

  1. I love the way you really thought about the cover lines. They're funny and to the point too. I like how you tried to use as much space as possible, but to do this even better, keep in mind how the text wraps around the cover star to make the symbiosis more realistic. It looks as if you just dropped the cover lines and let them float around. Also, you could've used a bigger, bolder fonts, but I like the fact you weren't afraid to use some smaller fonts too! I like the way you changed the text from black to red as it overlapped the cover star in the M magazine. I see you remembered to include the price in every magazine, which is great! But make sure they're visible too, though not too distracting. I know it's tricky to make a magazine seem realistic when you're using publisher, especially with those pugs you made, but I'm sure paint.net would be a greater use to you when you're creating a more professional magazine cover. I commend your loyalty to the house style and I especially love your Music_X magazine cover. But just make sure you take inspiration from other magazines and try to incorporate their boldness and layout techniques. You're almost there Ben! Great post and great blog! :D

  2. Also make sure you write a little analysis for the covers! Brilliant so far though!
